A Review of "Josh is Done"
Season 4, Episode 12
Now that this blog has reviewed the majority of the major characters of Drake and Josh, it's time to dive into some of my favorite episodes the show has released. The first of which is "Josh is Done", which is the highest rated episode of the series on imdb.com (9.4/10) and for good reason. It broke away from the goofy, lighthearted humor that the show normally used (although there was still plenty of that) and added an element of deep emotion that was very uncommon to Producer Dan Schneider's style. It was a turning point for the show that sent a powerful message to treat others with respect, no matter what your social status may be.
The intro to the episode explains that both Drake and Josh have a huge chemistry exam coming up. Each brother prepared for the test exactly how you would expect them to: Josh studied all night every night for a week, and Drake played a lot of ping pong. The morning of the test, Drake leaves Josh behind at home to go make out with his girlfriend, which causes Josh to miss the exam and automatically drop a letter grade. In response, Josh decides to think of Drake just as a roommate and not a brother and to not hang out with him anymore.
Josh's live then starts to dramatically improve without Drake weighing him down, and Drake's life starts to decline. Josh gets a 100% on his makeup exam and starts having a great time with his friends away from Drake. At the beginning of this arrangement, Drake says Josh needed him way more than he needed Josh, but it proves that it's actually the opposite. It doesn't take long for Drake to realize this either, and after he gets into an chemical accident in science class since Josh wasn't his lab partner anymore, he breaks down and gives us one of the most emotional scenes in the show as an apology.
This results in Josh coming home and forgiving him, and then to make up they play an intense game of ping pong and all was right in the world again. It is a truly fantastic episode, and gave our generation a great example of how to treat people fairly as well as how to deal with people who don't give you the respect you deserve. Thanks for reading, and stay tuned for next week's episode!
Drake and Josh is one of my favorite shows from our childhood. Children's shows today just don't even compare. What was so great about shows like Drake and Josh is that they were funny but they touched on real life issues in a way that kids could understand. The plot of this episode seems so simple but it's a lesson that every kid needs t learn. Respect is important but it's also important to stand up for yourself when you don't feel like you're getting the respect you deserve. I really miss this show. I need to find somewhere where I can go back and watch it because your blog is reminding me of how amazing it is.

Love this review, I am watching this right now on Hulu. The message is more powerful than I have seen it during my childhood/adolescence years. Thank you for this extensive detail on the episode.
